I have an application that creates a new temporary database on a daily basis and the name of the database is comprised of the user's ID and the current date (the database is temporary usually only lasting the duration of the user's session and its name).
I am also getting an alarm on this type of database on a daily basis because it has not yet been backed up (our daily backups usually occur at 7:00 p.m.).
I am unable to exclude this particular database from the alarm, because the database name is not static. But, I do not want to be paged every day because of this type of database.
Since the temporary databases created by the applicatioin last for about a day (ie duration only when users are logged into the application b/w 8-5pm) the way to workaround this issue is set the alarm to notify if the database has "not been backed up in the last 3 days" instead of the option alarm if "DB has never been backed up" (ie right click the Database component, select Alarm Settings, then click the override default settings option to change to alarm if database has not been backed up in the last 3 days).
