The user has a 2-node cluster where both physical nodes (A & B) are set as "Preferred owners" in the Cluster Administrator. Currently the services are running on B but Spotlight is still displaying a warning/blue alert saying that the server is not running on its preferred node. This is incorrect.
The current release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 7.0 is able to handle clusters with only one preferred node.
WORKAROUND:
Please go to "View | Monitoring Configuration | Alarms" and disable "Cluster - Non-Preferred Node"
STATUS:
Enhancement request ST11442 has been submitted to development for consideration in a future release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.
