We ran into some performance issues using SQL Analysis with the "continuous Rowset trace" option, so I am trying to configure Spotlight for SQL Server Enterprise to use a Server Side trace to capture the SQL Analysis data, but I don't seem to be having much luck.
It is stated in the help that Rowset trace should be used with care. It may affect throughput on busy servers.
We suggest using sampling server-side trace which is better in means of performance and network load.
When running the SQL Analysis feature, do not select more data than you need to collect.
The more you collect, the more resources you use, and as a result this will slow down performance.
You can use the filters tab to reduce the amount of events you collect.
