"Unable to retrieve SQL text" or "Event returned no SQL and a handle" message. Under some circumstances SQL Server doesn't return the SQL text . -
Resolution
Under some circumstances SQL Server doesn't return the SQL text. In the extended event Spotlight uses to gather these metrics and instead returns "Unable to retrieve SQL text". In version 11.2 when this occurs we try to retrieve the SQL using other means. This isn't always 100% successful because the SQL might have been evicted from memory by the time we try this but it does reduce the frequency of this problem.
