Planned outage not working correctly and sends alarms/emails once the outage window has ended. -
Description
Monthly we do maintenance on all our servers. We do a planned outage in Spotlight for the time frame. Everything is silenced during the outage, but as soon as the outage window is over it sends alarm e-mails about all the servers it could not connect to during the planned outage. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND 1:
Avoid restarting Diagnostic Server services during Planned Outage time frame.
WORKAROUND 2:
If Spotlight was upgraded and the issue still appears, attempt to recreate all Planned Outage schedules. Editing alone will not work but delete and recreate each Planned Outage schedule.
STATUS:
The issue fixed in the current release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise. The latest version of Spotlight can be downloaded from here.
