How to monitor failover ESX host through Spotlight (VMware) -
Description
Spotlight requires registering specific ESX hosts when monitoring VM-Ware. How to have Spotlight query VMWare Virtual Center instead to determine location.
This way, in the case of failover, users are not inadvertently looking at the wrong VMWare host for the SQL environment. -
Resolution
You might want to create a VMWare connection to the VCenter rather than the ESX Host. In spotlight GUI, under VMware connection, create vmware connection with Vcenter hostname - User - Password.
Then, user don’t have to worried about the failover. The VCenter will automatically redirect to what Spotlight is looking for.
