If a query is started and then cancelled (in SSMS after a few minutes) - after finishing, it doesn't appear in Spotlight in Workload Analysis (WA).
It can be a problem if a query runs for a very long time and it retrieves a lot of data, uses a lot of CPU, does a lot of reads and it doesn't appear in Workload Analysis as this information can help to understand a bottleneck for example.
Is it by design that the historical data of the cancelled query wouldn’t be retained in WA, if the query itself was cancelled before it was completed… even if it had significant impact to the system in the short time it was running?
