Do alarms in Spotlight’s SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) plugin auto-clear or must they be acknowledged?
In Spotlight on SQL Server 11.5 we have Spotlight alarms being displayed in SCOM as well as SCOM alerts being generated from these alarms.
If the Spotlight alarms are acknowledged in Spotlight then they will cleared in SCOM when the Diagnostic Server is next polled.
However, this is not true for the SCOM alerts that are generated off these alarms.
They will remain as they are part of a workflow and the SCOM alerts may have been assigned a ticket id, a ticket owner and have a changed alert status such as “Awaiting Evidence”, ”Assigned to Engineering” etc. Therefore, closing these will require action from the SCOM Console user.
