Does a Cloud Connect subscription gives the same benefit as a Spotlight Cloud Professional subscription?
Description
Does a Cloud Connect subscription gives the same benefit as a Spotlight Cloud Professional subscription?
It's possible to see all the instances and drilldown metrics in the browser.
Resolution
If you have a Cloud Connect subscription (as a Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise user), the web browser of Spotlight Cloud allows you to access to these features: (see Features1.jpg attached)
Cloud Connect uploads only enough data to support Alarms and first level diagnostics (the SQL Server Home page).
A Spotlight Cloud Professional subscription (trial or commercial) allows these features and more as you scroll down the list: (see Features2.jpg attached)
These features are not the same and if you have a Cloud Connect subscription, you will see only the features in the Features1.jpg screenshot.
If you want the full Spotlight Cloud features, you would additionally need to sign up for Spotlight Cloud Professional, install the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server (DS) and monitor connections from that DS, as opposed to the current Spotlight Enterprise DS.
If you can see all your instances and drilldown metrics, in this case there are one of two scenarios:
1. You currently have a Cloud Professional subscription trial and not a Cloud Connect one. This can arise if you signed up directly on spotlightcloud.io instead of from the configuration section in Spotlight Enterprise. In this case you will see the full list of drill downs for all connections.
2. If you have Spotlight Enterprise and a pre-existing Cloud Connect subscription and then start a Spotlight Cloud Professional trial, then you can see both sets of connections in the one browser. In this case the Spotlight Enterprise connections will be marked as such, and you will see the options in the first point above. The Spotlight Cloud Pro trial connections will see the extended diagnostics. When you initially sign up for a Spotlight Cloud Professional trial, you will see sample connections.
If you have an active support maintenance contract for Spotlight Enterprise, and have Cloud Connect, it allows you to see alarms, home page, health check and mobile for all of your Spotlight Enterprise connections.
If you have a Spotlight Enterprise license and a Spotlight Cloud Professional subscription at the same time, you'll be able to see all connections in the same browser. The Spotlight Enterprise connections will have limited capability in the browser.
