The objective is to minimize and reduce the number of extents. There is an option in Space Manager to minimize the number of extents by making the initial extents the size of the current usage. However, for some reason, the script is not giving the desired result.
Statistics in Space Manager repository is not updated.
In order to reorganize such that the initial extent is equal to the size of the current usage, there must be statistics available in Space Manager's repository.
For SAP environment, it is recommended to use the SAP's analyze method to collect statistics, and then copy the statistics into Space Manager's repository. To copy statistics from data dictionary, use Copy Statistics to Repository option from Analysis Group | Copy Statistics
Next, review the result of 'Actual usage' from Space Manager's Generate the script to. The size of initial extent that is generated will be slightly higher than the value of the actual usage to cater for any growth between the time of statistic gathering and actual reorganization.
