When issuing Shareplex commands like activation, stopping a process, etc, the following errors are either observed in event log or on sp_ctrl:
03/15/10 23:20 Logging user command: oracle start capture
03/15/10 23:19 Warning: sp_ocap didn't shutdown [sp_cop/1396954]
03/15/10 23:19 Logging user command: oracle stop capture
03/15/10 23:17 Notice: do_tcp: wrong authorization level: 3 [sp_cnc/2474204]
The user issuing the command does not have the authorization to issue the command.
Shareplex has privileges designated for three types of groups, spadmin, spopr and spview, with spadmin having most privileges and spview having the least. These users belonging to these groups are authorized to issue commands as per their privileges.
If the user issuing the command does not have the requisite privilege, then the error occurs. To troubleshoot the problem, exit sp_ctrl, and at OS prompt issue the command to see the username, then view the /etc/group to see which group the user belongs to. Then query the privileges associated with that group in the Shareplex Installation and Demonstration Guide. If the user does not have the requisite privilege, assign the user to a more privileged group as appropriate.
Shareplex Installation and Demonstration Guide Chapter titled Unix installation and setup section titled Assigning Shareplex users and authorization levels delves on this.
