Description
The following error appears in the sync server log
ERROR: Can't rename table "SCHEMA_OWNER"."TABLE_NAME" on target at sync/svr/sync_svr_messager.cpp:1163
ERROR: Errors found in target tables at sync/svr/sync_svr_messager.cpp:1078 at sync/svr/sync_server.cpp:159
when the following command is issued
sp_ctrl>copy SCHEMA_OWNER.TABLE_NAME to SCHEMA_OWNER.TARGET_TABLE_NAME TARGET_HOST@o.target_sid -
Cause
The issue is that a table with the name schema_owner.table_name exists on the target.Here in the copy command, the sync process tries to rename target table with the source table name, but if the table name already exists on the target it will not be able to do so.Here is an example
Config file:o.source_SIDschema_owner.table_name schema_owner.target_table_name target_host@o.target_SIDWith the above configuration, if the target has another table schema_owner.table_name, copy command will not work. -
Resolution
Workaround:If the source and target replication table name are different, there should not be another table on the target with the same name as the sourceIn the example
Config file:
o.source_SIDWith the above configuration, if the target has another table schema_owner.table_name, copy command will not work.schema_owner.table_name schema_owner.target_table_name target_host@o.target_SID
In the above case if schema_owner.table_name is renamed on target, copy command does not have an issue.
