There are hung memory segments and user is unable to start sp_cop, SharePlex event_log has messages like Semaphore exists for key, shm_init failed, the windows event_log also has similar messages.
Hung shared memory and/or semaphores
RESOLUTON 1: Use ipcs & ipcrm programs boundled with MKS Nutcracker
1) Shutdown SharePlex
NOTE: To kill all the SharePlex processes, run proddir/bin/killshareplex.bat
2) login to Windows server as the Administrator user
3) Make sure NutCracker Service is running
4) Access the Nutckracker utilities folder in the drive where Nutckracker was
installed, typically drive C: or D:.
5) Go in the \Program Files\MKS Toolkit\bin folder
6) Run ipcs.exe to display information about active IPC facilities.
7) Run ipcrm.exe to remove semaphores/shared memory identifiers.
8) Restart SharePlex
RESOLUTION 2: Restart NutCracker
1) Shutdown SharePlex
NOTE: To kill all the SharePlex processes, run roddir/bin/killshareplex.bat
2) Restart Nutcracker services:
From control Panel select MKS Toolkit| Select services tab and press Restart.
NOTE: The utility will notify that processes using Nutcracker are running
3) Restart SharePlex
RESOLUTION 3: Reboot server
1) Shutdown SharePlex
2) Reboot the server
3) Restart SharePlex
1) If running multiple sp_cops on same server, make sure that SP_SHS_IPCKEY & SP_SHS_IPCKEY parameters are set to different values for each sp_cop replication (See Solution SOL16506 - step D)
1) Rename the vardir/rim/*.ipc and *.loc files
