When running ora_cleansp or ora_setup, the prompts auto populate with "\c" without any action on the part of the user. Here is a sample screen shot:
[oracle@sp1 bin]$ ./ora_cleansp
Enter shareplex owner: \c
splex
Enter password for splex : \c
Are you sure you want to perform the clean for '/u01/app/shareplex/vardir2100' and Port 2100? (N) \c
y
One thing to note is that even though it auto populates the response with \n”, the prompt still comes back.
The customer only experienced this in Linux 6 when using bash or ksh though the issue may be seen in other environment as well.
To get around the issue, you can furnish the values once the prompt comes back after auto populating a “\n”. So, although this may be confusing, it will still allow the user to input values as appropriate. Here is a sample run:
[oracle@sp1 bin]$ ./ora_cleansp
Enter shareplex owner: \c
splex
Enter password for splex : \c
<password>
Are you sure you want to perform the clean for '/u01/app/shareplex/vardir2100' and Port 2100? (N) \c
y
