Excluding Replicator folders from Anti-virus Scans -
Description
Files in the Replicator data folders are being reported in the Event Viewer as being locked by another process or simply cannot be found. -
Cause
As Replicator creates and processes replication packages, it dynamically modifies files in the following folders:
- The %TEMP% folder for the Central Administration application pool account.
- The Replicator data folders for any Replicator-enabled web applications (WAPs) in the farm.
The virus scanner may be scanning these files at the same time Replicator is trying to lock and use them, causing Replicator to fail in processing the package.

Resolution
Explicitly exclude the folders below from being scanned by the virus scanner that is configured on the operating system (OS) of the servers in the SharePoint farm that is responsible for scanning the file system outside of SharePoint.
- The %TEMP% folder for the Central Administration application pool account.
- The Replicator data folders for any Replicator-enabled web applications (WAPs) in the farm as defined in the Configure web application screen under Replicator Data Folders.
- The installation directory -- ..\Program Files\Metalogix\Replicator\WSS#0\.
