Occasionally, local image capture devices will not be function as expected. This may happen for various reasons, but most commonly:
Caution: Most modern scanners and camera installation packages include proprietary imaging tools which were created to work only with that particular device. These tools are not reliable for testing since they rarely utilize the common scanner drivers used by RemoteScan.
We recommend checking the fidelity of a particular driver using one of the methods below:
Most Twain-compliant imaging software may be used to test Twain drivers. The preferred tools used by RemoteScan are Twack32 (for 32-bit Twain drivers) and Twack64 (for 64-bit Twain drivers), which the Twain Working Group makes available for download via their Twain Working Group github page:

WIA scanner drivers can be tested using most Windows apps which support image capture. Currently, the following Windows apps support WIA:
WDM/VFW (for webcams)
Though there aren't any Windows programs we are currently aware of which can reliably test WDM/VFW webcam drivers, we can assist customers with installing the Generic Video Data Source (VideoDS.ds) on the local PC, which is a Twain driver which can be used in conjunction with a Twain testing app to connect to, test, and configure WDM/VFW drivers for webcams.

To install, copy VideoDS.ds file into C:\Windows\Twain_32 on the local PC.
RemoteScan isn't currently compatible with ISIS devices, but ISIS drivers can be tested using TESTAPPN.EXE, which is usually located at C:\Windows\pixtran\testappn.exe.
This app can also be used to test RemoteScan Universal client.
ScanSnap devices can be tested locally using the locally-installed ScanSnap Manager or ScanSnap Home app.
