Description
Forest Restore fails with the error "An unknown error occurred. Value cannot be null. Parameter name: partition" when running Verify Settings. -
Cause
The error is caused because the tool is looking for a few registry keys under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DNS Server\Zones ( in the backed up registry), but does not expect empty values there. -
Resolution
This is a known issue that will be resolved on an upcoming hotfix for RMAD 10.3

The workaround at this moment is to Ensure that under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DNS Server\Zones every DNS zone key corresponding to AD domain (has a DWORD value 1 named DsIntegrated) there is a value DirectoryPartition with corresponding partition DNS name ForestDnsZones.<root-domain> or DomainDnsZones.<domain> -
