Description
In a BMR restore, can RMAD restore a BIOS DC backup into a GEN2 VM in Hyper-V ? -
Resolution
Unfortunately no, a backup from a BIOS DC can only be restore to a GEN1 VM in Hyper-V.
This is not a RMAD limitation.
This limitation means that GEN1 VMs can only have 2 IDE controllers, each of which can attach up to 2 IDE drives.
If the backup of the DC have more than 4 drives, then rest of the drives will not be restored or the VM creation could fail.
