How to limit the number of Hypervisor CPU sockets seen by Rapid Recovery -
Description
One of Rapid Recovery licensing models is based on number of Hypervisor CPU sockets. When Rapid Recovery connects to a vCenter server, Rapid Recovery will get the total number of CPUs of the ESXi hosts connected to it.
Some environments have the virtual infrastructure segmented in two or more clusters/datacenters managed by the same vCenter, for example a production and a development environment.
When setting up agentless protection, for one of the segmented Vmware levels, Rapid Recovery will see all of the environment and try to license all hosts, if there are not enough licenses the protected machines will be on trial for a limited time.

Cause
Due to licensing purposes number of CPUs seen by Rapid Recovery need to be limited. -
Resolution
1- Create a VMware user with administrator permissions to perform agentless backups with Rapid Recovery. If you require a user with limited permissions, please follow the steps described here KB40430462- Give permissions to the user at a vCenter level3- On the cluster/datacenter that Rapid Recovery will not perform backups, set user permissions to "No access"4- Restart core service
