Can the Performance Analysis (PA)clientconsole be installed on a 64 bit operating system?
When installing the Performance Analysis GUI on a Windows Server 200364-bit , we do not see any databases in the database drop-down list.
64-bit operating systems are officially not supported for the client installation.
It is not normally supported to install the PA client console on a 64-bit machine, however, in practice it is possible if it is installed in the 32-bit directory and if 32-bit SQL Server Client Tools are already installed. Please see the Client Requirements section inRelease Notes which you can download from supportlink. Please install the Performance Analysis GUI on one of the supported platforms to resolve the issue.
WORKAROUND:
If you are using PA Oracle version 6.5 you try the following workaround. It is not supported but from the experience with other installations it works fine:
The PA client needs a 32 bit Oracle client installation (not Instant Client). So if you install a 32 bit Oracle client and change the PATH variable that the 32 bit Oracle installation will be at the first position, then the PA client suppose to work.
Similarly, it is possible to installthe client console for PA SQL Server client GUI if it is installed in the 32-bit directory and if 32-bit SQL Server client tools are already installed.
