Veritas backup log shows the following error..
The base volume for the path ‘k:\backups\program files\quest software\pa_agent\3566\agents\bin’ is unavailable/offline
...which is causing the backup to fail
Performance Analysis agents in a cluster environment must be installed on the shared cluster resource so that when the SQL instance fails over to the passive node, or formerly passive but now becoming active due to the failover, the StealthCollect agents failover with the SQL Server instance providing continuous monitoring of the SQL instance and the node becoming active. The QAM Launcher service on the passive node pointing to shared disk is required so that when failover occurs and the passive node becomes active the QAM Launcher service can be started, launching the StealthCollect agents to continue monitoring.
The problem of the backup failing is on the Veritas side (not the Performance Analysis side); the QAM Launcher service on the passive node is pointing to shared disk but the shared disk is not visible to the passive node until failover when the passive node becomes active - so there must be a workaround on the Veritas side where an exclusion list prevents Veritas from trying to run backup of the shared disk on the passive node since the passive node does not have access to the shared drive. The workaound will need to come from Veritas - since this is not a Quest Software issue.
