What steps are needed when recovering synched objects without a hybrid connection?
Description
When restoring cloud objects that are synched to an onprem domain using AAD Connect, what are the proper steps needed when the Hybrid connection (ODR to RMAD Portal) has not been configured?
Resolution
For the situation where the on-prem user was deleted and the corresponding cloud object deleted via the AAD Connect sync:
Restore the on-prem user using the RMAD console (Online Restore Wizard)
Allow AAD connect to perform a Sync (or force a Sync) which will result in the cloud object being restored from the Azure AD Recycle Bin, provided the object was not hard deleted in Azure.
If the object was hard deleted in Azure:
Restore the Cloud user object from the ODR difference report
Stop AAD Connect service
Restore the on-prem user using RMAD console (Online Restore Wizard)
