In some migration scenarios, users who are migrated from the source Office 365 tenant to the target Office 365 tenant may need to continue sending email from an SMTP domain that still exists in the source tenant.
This scenario arises when the primary SMTP address domain remains in the source tenant during migration.
ODM now includes an enhancement to handle this scenario automatically.
On the ODM Dashboard, navigate to the "Rewrite Sender's Address" configuration under Domain Coexistence.
You will see an option to select where the primary SMTP address domain you want to use resides:
Source Tenant: If the primary SMTP address domain that end-users should use is still in the source tenant, select "Source primary email address."
Target Tenant: If the primary SMTP address domain is already in the target tenant, select "Target primary email address."
Refer to the Administrator Guide for detailed instructions and additional context.
This configuration ensures seamless email functionality for users during the coexistence phase of the migration.
