My understanding of the SQL Repermission Tool is that it's looking at actual database permissions when it's creating the SQL output file. My question is what handles the migration of the logins for the SQL instance itself? For example, I launch SQL Management Studio and connect to the SQL instance using either Windows Authentication or SQL Authentication. I then navigate to Security\Logins. How are these permissions migrated?
The SQL Repermission Tool does not repermission Server security login accounts, and only repermissions logins associated with the SQL database
Open the database folder and scroll down to the following folder: Databases | D<DBName> | Security | Users and Databases | D<DBName> | Security | Groups
Only names listed here will be repermissioned if there is a matching name in the map file.
