If you attempt to increase the "Number of Progress Buffers Available to Plugins" above a certain point (appears to vary from machine to machine), and leave everything else at the defaults in the "Process Manager" tab of the nvconfigurator, it causes NetVault to believe the shared mem size is 512000 and the service will fail to start because it cannot allocate enough memory per buffer in order to start the service.
The setting for "Shared Memory (kb) used for Process Table" is ignored due to a typo in the configuration file. Instead of the stanza reading
[Process Table:Shared Memory Size]
it says:
[Process Table:Shared Memoryze]
1. Stop the NVBU services
2. Open $NVHOME/config/procmgr.cfg for editing
3. Change the following
[Process Table:Shared Memoryze]
to
[Process Table:Shared Memory Size]
4. Start NVBU services and any changes made to this field in the NetVault Configurator will be applied now
