When running backup jobs in NetVault 14 with QoreStor as the target device, jobs may enter a "Job has been assigned to device" state and not progress further. No data is transferred, and no RDA clients appear connected from the QoreStor side.
Symptoms include:
Jobs remain idle indefinitely after being assigned to QoreStor
No RDA connections established (confirmed by rda --show --clients
)
TCP connection tests to port 9904 succeed or fail inconsistently
NetVault logs indicate the RAS controller is crashing or hanging silently
A review of NetVault logs or dependency tracing shows that the RAS controller is loading the incorrect version of librofsoca.dll
:
Loaded librofsoca.dll version: 4.1.0.501 (incorrect)
Expected version: 4.1.0.1525 (bundled with NetVault 14)
The Quest Storage RDA Library (Combined) package installs a newer version of the librofsoca.dll
file into a global system path. This overrides the version that is bundled with and expected by NetVault 14. The newer library is incompatible with the NetVault 14 RAS Controller and causes it to crash or fail silently when attempting to communicate with QoreStor via RDA.
Open Control Panel > Programs and Features on the NetVault Server.
Locate and uninstall:
Restart NetVault services or reboot the NetVault server to ensure the correct library is reloaded.
Re-run your backup jobs.
Jobs should now start successfully, and QoreStor should report RDA clients as connected.
