After Upgrade to NetVault 13.3, Backup Jobs Targeting Data Domain Fail
Description

After upgrading the NetVault Server or Client to version 13.3, backup jobs fail to complete with the following error message:

DD-Boost library load failed. Please check vendor's platform requirements

The backup job target device is a Data Domain appliance.
Cause

Although DDOS 6.2, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, or 7.4 hasn't been certified to run on NetVault versions released after 13.1, appliances running these OS versions could still be used as a backup jobs target device because the library still support them. The library is supplied and maintained by the appliance manufacturer.

With version 13.3, the boostlayer.cfg configuration file was updated to explicitly exclude unsupported DDOS versions.
Resolution

Please verify NetVault - Supported VTLs, Libraries, Tape and Optical Drives to ensure the appliance is supported. NetVault v13.3 supports DDOS 7.5 to 7.13 with DD boost 7.x.

If the Data Domain is running an unsupported DDOS version (6.2, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, or 7.4) and cannot be upgraded at this time, please follow this workaround:
Look for the following stanza on the %NVHOME%/config/boostlayer.cfg file:

[Library]
Version= 7.7
Appliances= 6.2, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.8, 7.9, 7.10, 7.11, 7.12
Add the version of the OS used by the Data Domain to the list.
