NetApp Ontap version 7.3.6
In documentation “snapmirror to tape user guide” we see the following:
Configure Media Block Size for Target Drives – The Plug-in for SM2T v7.2.101 and later releases use a block size of 256K, whereas the pre 7.2.101 releases use 240K.
VTL Drives configured to use 256K block size in netvault and backups worked but restore of the backup fails with “Position Block invalid request - past end of segment” can be seen in the subtext of the failure.

Cause
Block Size of 256kb is only supported with ONTAP 8.0.x or above. Prior to ONTAP 8.0.x the Block Size must be set to 240kb.

Change tape drive block size in netvault to be 240k
