Netvault database backup fails when the options to check and compact are enabled in the NVDB backup options tab.
The following errors are shown:
Error ... Media Manager 'Segments' table failed raw database check (13)
1. Take a NVDB backup without selecting the options to "check/compact database tables before backup" to tape and/or VTL (VTL is quicker). Make a note of the library name and tape name/barcode.
2. Stop Netvault Services
3. Navigate to ...\NetVault\db and move MediaDatabase folder to another location. Make sure that if you move the database to a different location on the same disk that you have enough space. You can compress or 'zip' the folder if necessary.
4. Restart NetVault and a new MediaDatabase will be created.
5. Re-Add the library in NetVault device manager and scan the tape with the NVDB backup on it. You can avoid re-adding the devices manually if you replace the new Device Tree files with the previous MediaDatabase that you have just moved in step 3. Replace the new "MediaDatabase\Indexes\DeviceTree" and the "MediaDatabase\Records\DeviceTree" with the old ones.
Make sure the DeviceTree from the Indexes goes to new Indexes folder and the one from the Records goes to the new Records folder.
6. At the end of the scan open the restore window, select NVDB, open the NVDB backup you just created, select "Backup Indexes" and "Media manager" only and restore them.
7. Netvault services may stop when the restore completes. It may restart on it's own. If it does, stop the services again, so that we can do a manual database check before starting Netvault.
Perform the following commands to manually check the Media database and repair any issues that may be found:
# cd .../netvault/util
# nvmeddbcheck check
# nvmeddbcheck force
# nvmeddbcheck compact
# nvmeddbcheck check
Please attach output from these commands to a the case for support to verify the database is now repaired.
Now restart the Netvault services.
