Description:
Error while loading shared libraries....libXp.so.3 - cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
Symptoms:
After installing NetVault in Linux and then trying to launch nvgui or nvconfigurator, you receive the error: error while loading shared libraries...libXp.so.3 - cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
NetVault relies on specific packages being available for the nvgui or nvconfigurator to run. If you receive this error, you can either install openmotif or lesstif. lesstif is available in all supported Linux distributions, but openmotif may not be available since it may conflict with OSS licensing.
The following commands can be run from the root shell. If openmotif is not available, you would still get lesstif.
yum install lesstif openmotif
up2date install lesstif openmotif
apt-get install lesstif openmotif
If openmotif is installed and the error still ocurrs, check the correct packages in the Pre-installation Requirements have been installed. The use of 64bit libraries will cause this error. If this is the scenario, uninstall the 64bit libraries and install the 32bit libraries. (These are identified as i386 on Linux).
