Description: If an NDMP restore fails in the described manner, it is not necessarily the problem that is mentioned in the log. Therefore, this FAQ documents another possible reason that is not obvious given the error message.
Symptoms: On certain filers, an NDMP restore might fail with the error message "Mover has paused due to seek outside the supplied window". It will then report "Unexpected Pause Seek to a position in the current segment" and eventually fail with a "Connection or IO error".
Even though the most common reason for such a failure is indeed a connection or IO error, this can also be caused by attempting to restore a backup that is being relocated to a new volume. This volume needs to exist on the filer, or otherwise the restore will fail in the above manner. Similarily, if the volume does already exist, it is case sensitive - so if the relocation path doesn't match the capitalization, the restore will fail in the same manner as above.
