OS Version - All supported.
Application Information: n/a
Description:
All backups fail once an NVDB table reaches 4GB in size.
Symptoms:
Once an NVDB table reaches 4GB in size all backup jobs will generate the following messages:
Database Table '[table name]' has reached its maximum size - RECORDS ARE NOT BEING STORED - TAKE REMEDIAL ACTION NOW.
Failed to add backup record.
Failed to write backup index to the database.
Failed when finalizing the backup.
Typically, this can occur to the tables 'Backup' and/or 'Jobs' in very large environments.
Run a NetVault Database backup, stop NetVault and run /usr/netvault/util/nvmeddbcheck compact to compact the Media Database, and /usr/netvault/util/nvschedbcheck compact to compact the Schedule Database.
Database compaction can be performed automatically as part of the NetVault Databases backup. On the Backup Options screen of the NetVault Databases backup job enable "Compact databases after backup".
Review Backup Life policies and settings to reduce the ongoing size of the Backup database table. Further information on managing database size can be found in Knowledge Base Article 78686 "Managing the size of the NetVault Database - NVDB"
