VMware backup fails with vcbMounter error for "FindHostByName" (4045094)

Symptoms:
When backing up a virtual machine with the plugin installed on ESX Server, the backup fails and the following messages are logged:
[ 'vcbMounter' #### error] Error: FindHostByName: Cannot search for emp...
Failed with exit code 1

Reason:
The VMware plugin uses the vcbMounter utility on the ESX Server to mount the virtual machine data in its temporary directory. The above error is logged when vcbMounter cannot resolve the hostname.

Ensure that DNS configuration, hosts file configuration and hostname are configured correctly and match. Test whether the "hostname" command on the ESX server's console returns the correct name.
