Backup is failing with "Cannot gain network access to client machine" error message. -
Cause
This error message "Cannot gain network access to client machine" means there is no 2 way communication between the Process Manager on the NetVault Server and the NetVault Client. -
Resolution
Please verify:
- The NetVault Process Manager service is running on the client
- Verify that any Firewall software on the client is either disabled or has had rules put in for NetVault to accept Inbound connections
- Verify that you can ping the client from the server both by name and ip
- Verify that you can telnet from the server to the client on port 20031
