Tape library and drives were added as "shared", but could not see the shared icons underneath the drives.
Tape library, drives, Filer and the NetVault Server were all attached via FC to a FC Switch.
The NetVault Backup, Filer, NDMP Plugin, tape library and drive versions were all supported as per the library, plugin and NetVault compatibility guides, so issue didn’t lie there.
There were two FC controllers setup as a cluster on one Filer and no Multipathing used either (as not supported), so all correct here as well.
The tape library was added in NetVault Device Management twice, as thought you had to add the device per FC controller.
Removed both tape library entries from NetVault Device Management and then added the tape library in once with shared drives.
The shared icons now appear under each drive and the backups were successful.
