Oracle/STK SL4000 tape drives go offline
On an Oracle/STK SL4000 the drives can be manually configured via Manage devices | tree view but go offline when writing to them.
The SL4000 assigns SCSI ids SCSI id 1000,1001 to the drives that the Netvault drive template interprets as Bay1, Bay2 etc.
This is regardless of the order in which the drives are located in the bays.
That means if SCSI id 1000, 1002, 1004 are occupying bays, Netvault will still try to allocated them to bay 1,2 and 3.
Where in actual fact the drives are in bays 1 3 and 5.
This will be even more of an issue if bays are left empty.
For example the Sl4000 has 8 bays but only 5 are occupied by drives as Netvault will still see 8 bays and try to assign
drives to them.
Workarounds:
Partitioning the tape library so that Netvault only detects 5 bays and drives.
Insert the drives into the corresponding bays for SCSI ids 1000 to 1004.
