NetVault 12 upgrade error: Previous installation was performed by another user -
Description
When upgrading to NetVault 12, you encounter the error message:There has been an error:Previous NetVault Backup installation was performed by a user other than the current logged in user: DOMAIN\USERNAMELogin with the previous user account and run the setup. -
Cause
This issue is likely caused from an install where the NetVault Home Directory and the NetVault Database were split up.Example:NetVault Core Directories were installed under: C:\Program Files\Quest\NetVault BackupNetVault Database Directory installed under: E:\NetVault Databases\dbAlternatively, if you get this message, and there is another account you used to do the previous install, then you may also log in with that user and run the upgrade. -
Resolution
The current installing user may have access to both as a Domain Admin, however, the specific account will need to be applied to both directories.So for example, if you are logged in as:DomainName\BobUser as a Domain Admin - Registered under Domain Admin AccountBut the install was done as:DomainName\DaveUserThen you can either log in with .\DaveUser and retry the install or set the specific \BobUser with full permissions to both the NetVault Install and NetVault Database directories and rerun the install. -

Note that this issue has not been recorded between NetVault 11 updates prior to v12
