Description
nvrascontroller.exe processes using high amounts of CPU up to 8% CPU for each process.
With multiple containers on different DR’s CPU consumption was high enough to effect all actions on NetVault from looking at logs, modifying selection sets.
Many jobs were taking long time to allocate media causing lots of jobs to go into a “waiting for media” or pending status. This was especially noticeable with phase 2 (duplication) because dual media requests are required.
There are 2 NetVault servers 1 running NetVault 10.05 and the other running 11.45. the NetVault server running NetVault 10.5 was old NetVault server and still had container attached on some of the DR’s.
The same container had been attached to the new NetVault server using NetVault 11.45.

Resolution
Removed the all old containers being shared between the NetVault servers from the new NetVault 11.45 server.
Created new containers on the DR’s where we had the shared containers and attached the new containers to the new NetVault server.
Restart service
