Description:
Backup fails with error "ORA-01031:insufficient privileges"
Symptom:
“Insufficient privileges”message when backing up Oracle dbs.
Cause:
The user NetVault services run as doesn't have ORA_DBA privilege. NetVault runs as 'Local System Account' by default.
Change the user NetVault services run as with the following procedure -
1. Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Services,
2. Select 'NetVault Process Manager', right-click, then select "Properties" and go to "Log On" tab,
3. Click on 'This account', then enter 'Administrator' and its password,
4. Press Apply and then OK,
5. Restart NetVault services.
