NetVault Server crashed down. A new server is installed. Need to restore the DB from the old server.
Prerequisites:
1. Install the same version of NVBU Server software on the target machine. The NVBU software version must be the same or later than the original NVBU Server.
2. Add a backup device to the NVBU Server using either the Automatic Device Configuration Wizard or the manual procedure. For details, refer to the Quest
NetVault Backup Administrator’s Guide.
3. Load the NVDB backup media. In the new NVBU Domain, the media will be reported as foreign. To scan the media and load the contents, right-click the
drive containing the media and select Scan.
To restore the NetVault database, in its entirety, follow these steps:
1. Open the Restore window by clicking the Restore button on the command toolbars, or by choosing Operations Restore.
2. Select the client (or NetVault server) and choose Open from the pop-up menu,or double-click the client to display the databases within it.
3. Open the NetVault Databases item to display the backup savesets available for restore.
4. Select the most recent backup saveset, right-click and choose Open from the pop-up menu, or double-click the backup saveset.
5. Select the Schedule Manager, Backup Indexes and Media Manager l items in the backup saveset by clicking the square next to each item. These are the main components of your database. You can also select other items if you were using them in your original install.
6. Enter the name of the job in the Job Title box.
7. Submit the job by clicking the Submit button.
The NetVault database restore will be run. Do not monitor the job while it is running, since this may interfere with the process. It is best to submit the job and then close all NetVault windows until the restore is complete.
