SnapMirror is a Netapp feature that's commonly used to copy data from one system to another. You can copy volumes, or qtrees. It's also very useful in Disaster Recovery plans, since volumes can be incrementally backed up to an offsite location.
The NetVault SnapMirror to Tape Plug-in allows you to backup selected volumes or snapshots directly to tape devices from SnapMirror at the BLOCK LEVEL, unlike native NDMP which is done at the file level. Another benefit as well is that native deduplication is preserved during backup and restores of SnapMirrored data.
