1/ Checked binary log and as we see below the backup failed because the file system plugin could not create a snapshot and we see the error “Error creating volume snapshot(s): VSS_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND”
2/ Checked the “Volume Shadow Copy Service” this was running and set to auto start as required.
3/ Used following VSS commands on the client NetVault was running backup on to see current state of shadows and volumes being snapshotted during backup.
vssadmin List Providers
vssadmin List Writers
vssadmin List Shadows
vssadmin List ShadowStorage
Checking this output the writers and providers were in expected state to snapshot correctly.
Noticed that output from command “vssadmin List ShadowStorage” gave response “No items found that satisfy the query”. This was no correct.
4/ checked window event logs of the client that NetVault was attempting to backup and we saw the following message:
Insufficient system resource exists to complete the requested service
