Procedure:
1.) Go to Manage Clients.
2.) From the Trace status column check the NetVault server.
3.) Confirm it's set to immediately and hit apply button.
If you need to enable traces for clients as well you do the same process as mentioned with the involved clients.
4.) After recreating the problem you need to disable traces by unchecking the boxes. This step is important as letting traces ON will fill your server hard drive.
5). To download traces you need to select each client/server and click Manage button.
6). Click Diagnostic Trace Settings button, look at the dates and download the one you need.
If there is a problem downloading traces from the WebUI you can look for the folder on the server/client.
By default the location of NetVault's trace directory is:
Windows 32-bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\NetVault\trace
Windows 64-bit - C:\Program Files\Quest\NetVault\trace
Unix/Linux/Mac OS X - /usr/netvault/trace
7.) A binary log must be generated and included so the data can be compared.
