Note:- In the below steps netvault_backup is the NVBU backup server . SID is the SID of the sap database . Also "test" in the below 2 condition must exist .
Backup target set = test (Target set must be defined in NVBU in managed sets, its could be any name need not be test )
https://prod-support-images-cfm.s3.amazonaws.com/KB_1-1BHEW8M_Targert Set (could be RDA, VTL or tape library) NetVault Backup.jpg
Advanced Option Set = test (Advanced Option Set must be defined in NVBU in managed sets ,its could be any name need not be test )
If you don't create advance set , then every job will create unique set .

1> Go to create backup job , expand the pluing for the backinit for the backup server and make sure the backup server is mentioned for servers “ netvault_backup” .
Dont make entry for parameter file .

2> Expand the pluing for backint for the client and make sure , backup server is mentioned for servers “ netvault_backup”
Enter the parameter file E:\oracle\SID\102\database\initSID.utl

3> Edit the initSID.sap file and make the below changes only . (make a copy of the original before editing, for sample files please get in touch with the Dell support engineer )
backup_mode = all
restore_mode = all
backup_type = online
backup_dev_type = util_file_online
backup_root_dir = C:\oracle\\sapbackup
stage_root_dir = C:\oracle\\sapbackup
compress = no
compress_cmd = "C:\usr\sap\\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\mkszip -c $ > $"
uncompress_cmd = "C:\usr\sap\\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\uncompress -c $ > $"
compress_dir = C:\oracle\\sapreorg
archive_function = save_delete
archive_copy_dir = C:\oracle\\sapbackup
archive_stage_dir = C:\oracle\\sapbackup
util_par_file = init.utl
---------------------------------------------------------------
Please Note:- for Linux is different , sample is as below .
archive_copy_dir = /oracle/SID/sapbackup
archive_function = save_delete
archive_stage_dir = /oracle/SID/sapbackup
backup_dev_type = util_file_online
backup_mode = all
backup_root_dir = /oracle/SID/sapbackup
backup_type = online
compress = no
compress_cmd = "gzip -c $ > $"
compress_dir = /oracle/SID/sapreorg
copy_in_cmd = "dd ibs=64k obs=8k if=$"
copy_out_cmd = "dd ibs=8k obs=64k of=$"
cpio_disk_flags = -pdcu
cpio_flags = -ovcB
cpio_in_flags = -iuvcB
dd_flags = "obs=64k bs=64k"
dd_in_flags = "ibs=64k bs=64k"
disk_copy_cmd = copy
exec_parallel = 0
expir_period = 30
pipe_copy_cmd = rsh
restore_mode = all
rewind = "mt -f $ rewind"
rewind_offline = "mt -f $ offline"
saveset_members = 1
stage_copy_cmd = rcp
stage_root_dir = /oracle/SID/sapbackup
tape_address = /dev/nst0
tape_address_rew = /dev/st0
tape_copy_cmd = cpio
tape_pos_cmd = "mt -f $ fsf $"
tape_size = 100G
tape_use_count = 100
uncompress_cmd = "gunzip -c $ > $"
util_par_file = initSID.utl
---------------------------------------------------------------
4> Changes that need to be for the ult file .
Content of "initSID.utl" (Windows)
(standard directory path: :\\database or Standard on Windows: ":\Oracle\\")
title =
client = (Oracle SAP-Server)
Network compression = false
Backup target set = test (Target set must be defined in NVBU in managed sets )
Advanced Option Set = test (Advanced Option Set must be defined in NVBU in managed sets )
Restore Backup = false
5> Then run the below command from Sap :- (While running a Test backup from command line :- cmd must be open as “SIDadm “ user )
Note:- You may also need to create a soft link for backinit from netvault directory to the BR tools directory (SAP Directory)
The backint command is
D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\backint.exe -u SID -f backup -i E:\oracle\SID\sapbackup\.bepvagzz.lst -t file_online -p E:\oracle\SID\102\database\initSID.utl -c
Eg:-make sure the input file exists and it points to the database files .
D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64>D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\backint.exe -p E:\oracle\SID\102\database\initSID.utl -u SID -f backup -i C:\filelist.in.txt -t file_online
** Submitting job
** Submitting job status = 0
** Waiting for job 54
#SAVED 4 C:\TEMP\test.txt
#SAVED 4 E:\ORACLE\SID\ORIGLOGA\LOG_G11M1.DBF
** Job finished
** Job completion status = 0
D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64>
Please also make sure the backint you called is via user SIDadm from os level directly.
Please also check if below os brcommand works for user SIDamd:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
brbackup -u / -c force -t online -m full -p initSID.sap
Note :- the above will tell us where its failing and will help us sort mush easily .

Then run the backup from the SAP brtools .
