1. Record the identification number of the drives within the tape library console.
2. From the NetVault Server WebUI, on the left navigation pane, choose Manage Devices.
3. On the top, select the Tree View radio button.
For ALL NetVault versions, the whole library could be removed and re-added:
4. Write down the name of the tape library. If a different name is used, existing Target sets won't be able to correctly identify the storage device.
5. Remove the tape library from NetVault. Click the library name and from the context menu, select Remove...
6. Add the tape library and then the tape drives manually. Match the order of the drives as shown on the tape library console; notice that on some consoles, if partitioned, the partitions might be listed from last to first. Tape drives should be added in order; otherwise, the tape library or the drives will go offline.
For NetVault versions 12.3 or higher, alternatively, one or more drives can be selectively removed and re-added:
4. Click the tape library name and from the context menu, choose Modify...
5. Remove a drive by highlighting it and pressing the [Remove Drive] button.
6. Press the [Show Drives] button to display the Choose Drives pane.
7. Select an available drive from the Choose Drives pane. Information of the drive will be displayed on the Details info box.
8. Click the drive, press the Select option to add it to the current selected bay.
