NVDB backups fail on netvault_logs pg_dump - "archive member too large for tar format"
Description

NVDB backups fail while backing up the 'netvault_logs' PostgreSQL database.
Trace and logs show:

When running the pg_dump command directly from command line the following is returned:
"/opt/netvault/pgsql/bin/pg_dump -U postgres --format=tar --port 51486 netvault_logs"
"pg_dump: [tar archiver] archive member too large for tar format"
Cause

By default the pg_dump format is set to TAR for the NVDB backup and this should be suitable for most installations..
The pg_dump TAR format (http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/app-pgdump.html) does not compress and has a limit of 8 GB on the size of individual tables. Additionally it will make ample use of the system's /tmp on Unix/Linux and may run out of space.
If the netvault_logs database or any other NetVault database has become too large, the use of the TAR format will lead to backup failures.
Instead the CUSTOM format should be used to make use of compression during backup.

As part of the enhancements introduced in Bug 26668 for NVBU 10.0.1, a new configuration options for the NetVault Database pg_dump format has been introduced: CUSTOM.
Please change the pg_dump format from the default TAR to CUSTOM as follows:
- Using the Web UI, go to Manage Settings
- Click Server Settings
- Click Plugin Options
- Scroll down to the "NetVault Database Backup" section
- In the "Format to be used while backing up Netvault Database" pull-down menu change from tar to custom
- Click Apply
Run the NVDB backup which should now succeed as the use of the CUSTOM format will allow compression.
