NetVault Smart Client Service stopped and won't restart. -
Description
NetVault Smart Client Service stopped and wouldn't restart after nine seconds.
We could see the following errors from the Smart Client Process Manager Trace:

This was pointing to a networking/communication issue and eventually the connection was lost.
The Smart Client (SC) is trying to communicate to another Client ('uklon_svnmaster') and then went down.
The Smart Client service shouldn't normally stop if a Client cannot be contacted.So we added the 'uklon_svnmaster' Client to the NetVault Server Client Management (as may have been removed before) and then tried to start the Smart Client Services again.
Unfortunately this didn’t resolve the issue.
We then moved the machines.dat file that is under the …\NetVault Backup\etc folder to a safe place and then started the NetVault Services on the Smart Client again. This will then create a new machines.dat file. The machines.dat file contains all the machines details that it can communicate with.
The NetVault Services then ran and stayed running and the NetVault Server Device Management window was showing all the devices online again.
So the issue was a corrupt machines.dat file on the SC.
