How to Restore Individual Files from a VMWare Image-Level Backup? (4032476)

Recovery of a single or multiple files and/or folders is required without having to restore the whole virtual machine which will required additional time and storage space to complete.

Pre-requisite

File-level restore for regular savesets created with NetVault Plugin for VMWare is only possible if a file index was created during the backup job. If during the backup process, the option to "Perform File Level Indexing" wasn't selected or the process to create the index failed, the virtual drive file will need to be restored to extract the required data.

When restoring files from a CDP backup, the file-level indexing occurs automatically during the restore process rather than the backup process. File-level recovery of a CDP backup is only available with a QoreStor storage device version 7.1.2 or later.
