When installing the SmartDisk software in a MacOS environment, the installation fails at the last step of the script.
If you look at the Terminal window, you notice that the installation completed but it failed to check smartdkisk.sh status.
../smartdisk.sh status
"Failed to connect to percolator slave"
If try to start the smartdisk services it will also fail to start.
../smartdisk.sh start
"nothing found to load"
The reason for the installation failure is because it cannot start the smartdisk services.
The reason that the smartdisk services cannot be started is because the smartdisk.plist is not loaded.
The resolution is to load the smartdisk.plist
After the smartdisk.plist gets loaded, the smatdisk services will than start fine.
Here is how you load the smartdisk.plist and start the smartdisk services as soon as you see the Popup window with the warning :"The installation failed." "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
bash-3.2# launchctl load -vf /usr/smartdisk/foundation/etc/com.quest.launchd.smartdisl.plist
bash-3.2# smartdisk.sh start
"/usr/smartdisk/foundation/bin/smartdisk.sh start"
Now the foundation services started just fine and you will get the following message on the terminal window.
com.quest.launchd.smartdisk: Already loaded
Services started ok.
