NetVault SmartDisk can't use the root of a share. It must be configured to use a folder within the share and it needs to be configured with a different folder for both staging and store.
Example:
\\Server\MyShare\Staging
\\Server\MyShare\Store
This problem is usually encountered after initially installing NetVault SmartDisk. In that case uninstall NetVault SmartDisk an specify folders within the CIFS share for the stage and store.
Example:
\\Server\MyShare\Staging
\\Server\MyShare\Store
If this problem is encountered after using the "smartdisk config -- add --volume" to add a CIFS share to an existing NetVault SmartDisk server and you do not want to reinstall, it will be a little harder. NetVault SmartDisk doesn't have any process for removing volumes. The configuration is stored in diskmanager/etc/storage.cfg. You can stop the NetVault SmartDisk services, create the folder within the share and then update the storage.cfg file.
